Membership: Why Join GUT?

Normal Club Membership is currently set at £45 for the year. That means that for only £45, everything listed below is included at not extra charge! GUT is the best-value tennis club will you join in your life - guaranteed!
For Team Membership it is £60 which includes an extra 2 hours coached training by a level 3 LTA coach over an above the normal tennis schedule!
For the second year running we will also have a development team which includes 1 hour extra training per week with our head coach Ethan! This also includes matches against other teams. This squad is aimed at players just short of team level who are wanting to play more and compete! This membership is £55 for the whole year!

02. Indoor Facilities
The number one thing included in GUT membership is access to all outdoor facilities through the week: Kelvingrove on Mondays and Wednesday and Dowanhill on Fridays. For Team Players, this also includes access to Monday and Tuesdays are Dowanhill and get some extra hitting
03. Coaching
On Sunday evenings, we have access to David Lloyd Anniesland’s excellent, modern indoor facilities in the West End. This excellent opportunity to play sheltered from the wintry Scottish weather is also included in the membership.
04. Free Socials
Wednesday afternoons, and Sundays 7-9pm, are dedicated to the coaching of players of all abilities. We have professional, qualified head coaches running both sessions, with dedicated assistant coaches for support. Coaching sessions are split by ability, so that every player can feel comfortable and excel.
Here at GUT, we've made quite the name for ourselves as having some of the best socials on campus! Every member is welcome and encouraged to join us at our socials. This is a great way to have a laugh with strangers at the start of the night and keep laughing with the new friends you've just made!

At the end of every year, GUT hosts a competition to rival Wimbledon! Becoming a member allows you to enter our competition and prove yourself against the best of the rest

The other part of GUT: the social side. Membership includes free entry to most of our social events, which are held practically every two weeks. As well as this, FREE ENTRY TO SANCTUARY NIGHTCLUB EVERY WEDNESDAY OF THE YEAR is included - this is worth the £40 alone!

For players of the necessary ability, the chance to play for our 5 tennis teams is included. We compete in BUCS and Aegon leagues/competitions around Scotland, and all transport to and from these matches is covered by the club. Access to Tuesday evening team training is also part of the package.
For the players that meet the required standard, special team coaching is available on Saturday mornings. This year, we have booked Jordan Gray – a former Scotland player and Scottish Cup winner no less – for two 5-week team coaching blocks. Our resident Head Coach Dave Birrell will take the rest of the sessions.

11. British Tennis Membership
Every member of GUT is automatically enrolled as a British Tennis Member with the Lawn Tennis Association. This gives everybody a BTM number, a Ranking in their district, a Rating (which can be improved through competing), the capacity to enter tennis competitions across the country, access to online facilities, and the opportunity to go on subsidised courses.
Membership also includes access to all tennis Scottish Student Sport events. S.S.S is an organisation which holds sports events all across Scotland, and in 2018/19, there are plans for a tennis event to be held every month in different cities. A great way to interact with people from different clubs!
12. Wimbledon Ballot
A BTM membership also entitles you entry to the GUT Wimbledon ballot. This is an excellent opportunity to visit the hallowed All England Club, and see the greatest players in the world compete on British soil. Last year, 16 pairs of tickets were balloted off to lucky GUT members.
