Want To Help Out?

If you're keen on helping out with the running, administrative or coaching roles within GUT, there are a couple of ways you can get more involved!

Freshers Member

The GUT Annual Christmas Dinner also acts as an Extraordinary General Meeting, where we elect a new member of the committee: Freshers Member. This Fresher Member of the committee will assist in various ways on the committee for the 3 months leading up to the Annual General Meeting, with the view of becoming more involved in the committee in the following year.

The Freshers Position is open to all students studying in the first year of their first undergraduate degree at Glasgow University. The role requires a level of commitment and enthusiasm for getting involved in running GUT. Previous Freshers Members have gone on to become Treasurers, Secretaries and Club Captains.

Coaching Team

Coaching is of fundamental importance to GUT; this requires top quality coaching from a select team of qualified coaches. If you are interested on coaching for GUT and have a Level 1, or above, qualification, speak to one of the Club Captains.

GUT will be recruiting new assistant coaches early in Semester 1 2018. Apply here by emailing, captain-treasurer@gusa.gla.ac.uk

For those who don't have a coaching qualification but would like to gain one - or for those looking to acheive the next level in coaching qualification - GUT and the Lawn Tennis Association provide a pathway for getting people in to coaching. Speak to Club Captains for more details, and follow the link here for more information of coaching qualifications:

Committee Positions

The committee is in charge of the running and administration of the entire tennis club. A committee is elected annually in March at the Annual General Meeting. There are 13 positions up for grabs: Men's and Women's Club Captain, Treasurer, Secretary, Team Captains, 2 Social Convenors, Publicity Convenor, Tour Convenor, Kit Convenor, General Member and Honorary Captain.

Those wishing to apply for a role must prepare a small speech, and also have find someone to nominate them. The nominator will also be reuqired to deliver a small speech. Speak to the committee about getting on to committee if you are interested in applying for a position.

Full details about the application process and technicalities of Annual and Extraordinary General Meetings can be found below:

Joining the PR Team

Throughout the year a group of enthusiastic members of GUT promote the clubs socials and events on their personal pages and onto the club page with some witty lines and persuasive skills.

The PR team will also be on hand during freshers week to help hand out flyers and persuade even more members to sign up!

There's a reason GUT has a big presence on campus and why it is well known for it's socials and thats because of our large PR team we have every year!
