Getting Selected for Teams...

Playing for a University Sport Team is both a tremendiously exciting opportunity, and we encourage all players to aspire to play competitive tennis. For those of the necessary ability, we offer a couple of ways of getting selected for any of the 5 teams.

Even within our Performance Players cohort, the ability standard various - so don't be put off by thinking you aren't good enough to play for the teams; we encourage anyone who thinks they have a chance to apply. (The standard of the lowest two teams - Mens 3rd and Ladies 2nd has players with ratings of 10.2).

The main way to get selected for one of the Teams is to come along to our Team Trials, which are taking place on (DATE TBC - see facebook) at David Lloyd West End in Anniesland. At this event, all prospective players will participate in a fitness warm up, some intense drills and some match play, whilst their abilities are assessed by the Team Captains and Coaching Team. Players of the necessary standard will be noted down, and then invited to join in specialised Team Training sessions, and join the Team of the right standard.

If you are unable to attend Team Trials, or feel you have been overlooked at it, don't worry, there are plenty of other opportunites throughout the year to get on the teams! If you attend coaching sessions throughout the first Semester, it is likely that you will be spotted by the Team Captains and Coaches as being 'team potential', and receive an invite to play for the teams.
